Is it permissible to use the red landing mat and small red cube in place of the blue mat/cube in skills since the drones do not need to land on their corresponding color in skills?
This situation should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. I strongly encourage event partners to adhere to the official color guidelines outlined in the manual whenever possible. However, unforeseen circumstances do arise. In a situation where essential field elements, such as a landing pad or cube are unavailable, I would consult with the Event Partner and Head Referee to determine whether using an alternate color is an appropriate temporary solution.
That said, this approach should be considered an exception rather than the standard.
This aligns with T3: use common sense. If the alternative is operating with insufficient fields or preventing students from completing matches, we would prioritize maintaining the quality of the student experience.
