The following will replace rules TM25 and TM26 effective February 27, 2026
TM25 Tie Breakers for Quarterfinals and Semifinal Elimination Matches.
Quarterfinals
The top four (4) Alliances based on total points at the conclusion of the round will advance to the Semifinals.
However, if the Alliance ranked fourth (4th) is tied in total points with any lower- ranked Alliance(s), all teams tied with the fourth-place Alliance will also advance to the Semifinals.
Example
- Alliance 1 – 100 points
- Alliance 2 – 90 points
- Alliance 3 – 85 points
- Alliance 4 – 80 points
- Alliance 5 – 80 points
Alliance 6 – 75 points
Alliance 7 – 60 points
Alliance 8 – 60 points
Alliance 9 – 50 points
Alliance 10 – 40 points
In this example, Alliance 4 and Alliance 5 are tied with 80 points. Therefore, both Alliances advance to the Semifinals, resulting in five (5) Alliances advancing instead of four (4).
Semifinals
The top two (2) Alliances based on total points at the conclusion of the round will advance to the Finals.
However, if the Alliance ranked second (2nd) is tied in total points with any lower- ranked Alliance, all Alliances tied with the second-place Alliance will also advance to the Finals.
Example
- Alliance 1 – 100 points
- Alliance 2 – 85 points
- Alliance 3 – 85 points
Alliance 4 – 70 points
In this example, Alliance 2 and Alliance 3 are tied with 85 points. Therefore, both Alliances advance to the Finals, resulting in three (3) Alliances advancing instead of two (2).
TM26 Tiebreakers for Finals Elimination Matches.
Finals
In the case of a tie for first place during the Finals Elimination Match, Each Alliance will play one additional match and introduce Match Stop Time.
- If the tiebreaker Finals Match scores are tied, the Alliance with the higher Match Stop Time will be declared the winner.
Match Stop Time - The time remaining (i.e., displayed on the timer or audience display) in a tiebreaker Finals Match when an Alliance ends the Match early by landing their drone and placing their controllers on the ground.
Match Stop Time is rounded down to the nearest even number. For example, if the Drone is landed and controllers are set down when the displayed time is 11 seconds, the Match Stop Time is recorded as 10 seconds.
If an Alliance does not finish the Match early, they receive a default Match Stop Time of 0 seconds.
- If the tie persists after the 2nd Finals Match, the highest-seeded Alliance will be declared the winner.
